Moelis & Company Announces the Appointment of Yorick Van Slingelandt as a Managing Director in Dubai

New York and Dubai, July 14, 2011

Moelis & Company, the New York-headquartered independent investment bank, today announced the appointment of Yorick Van Slingelandt as a Managing Director, based in Dubai. A leading corporate financier, Mr. Slingelandt will be Co-head of Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Investment Banking with Augusto Sasso, and will be jointly responsible for building out the firm’s financial advisory and capital raising services across MENA markets. He joins the firm in October, 2011.

Mr. Van Slingelandt joins Moelis & Company after 15 years with JP Morgan in London, Hong Kong and Dubai. His most recent role was as Head of Corporate Finance for Middle East & North Africa, where his remit included M&A and capital markets origination across the region. Mr. Van Slingelandt’s sector expertise includes telecommunications, aerospace and defence, transport and industrials.

Mark brings over two decades of investment banking experience across M&A and industry coverage, having advised corporate and private equity clients primarily within the Business, Industrial and Technology Services sectors. He joins from HSBC, where he led the firm’s Business Services coverage for EMEA with a focus on high-growth verticals undergoing technological change. Prior to that, Mark spent over a decade at Lehman Brothers and Nomura in London, where he held senior leadership roles in M&A and coverage of Business and Industrial Services. Moelis & Company Announces the Establishment of its Private Funds Advisory Business and the Appointment of Four Managing Directors

Moelis & Company (NYSE: MC), a leading global independent investment bank, today announced the establishment of its Private Funds Advisory Business which will provide capital raising, secondary and other independent advisory services to private fund sponsors and limited partners.  This business significantly expands the Firm’s leading financial sponsors’ capabilities, having advised on more than $300 billion of sponsor-related transactions over the past five years, and enhances its offering to institutional investors.

The Firm also announced the hire of four Managing Directors who have agreed to join Moelis & Company to lead the business.  Dave Brown, Patrick S. Dunleavy and Christopher D. Kirsten will be based in the Firm’s New York headquarters and Zaid Abdul-Aleem will be based in the Firm’s Chicago office.  Messrs. Brown, Dunleavy, Kirsten and Abdul-Aleem have collectively advised on a broad range of fundraises across the spectrum of investment strategies and geographies worldwide.

Before joining Greenhill, he was an Executive Vice President and Head of Business Development for Piedmont Investment Advisors where he was responsible for marketing and client service to U.S. institutional investors.  He previously worked in the Investment Banking Division of Morgan Stanley.

Mr. Brown was formerly a Managing Director and Co-Head of Greenhill’s Private and Real Estate Capital Advisory Groups.  He joined Greenhill in 2008 from Lehman Brothers where he served as a Senior Vice President of Lehman’s Private Fund Marketing Group.  He was previously a Director of New York Life Investment Management and prior to that played as a quarterback for 10 years in the National Football League for the New York Giants and the Arizona Cardinals.

Mr. Dunleavy was formerly a Managing Director and Co-Head of Greenhill’s Private and Real Estate Capital Advisory Groups. He joined Greenhill in 2008 from Lehman Brothers where he was a Managing Director of Lehman’s Private Fund Marketing Group.  He was previously a Managing Director in the Private Fund Advisory Group at Lazard.

Mr. Kirsten was formerly a Managing Director and Chairman of Greenhill’s Private Capital Advisory Group.  He joined Greenhill in 2008 from Lehman Brothers where he was a Managing Director and Global Head of the firm’s Private Fund Marketing Group. He was previously a Director of Deutsche Bank’s Private Equity Finance Group.

Moelis & Company, the leading global independent investment bank, today announced its plan to expand into Brazil with the opening of an office in São Paulo and the appointment of three industry leading bankers.

Otávio Guazzelli, Jório Salgado-Gama, and Erick Alberti will join Moelis & Company having worked at BR Partners and Citigroup, with Mr. Guazzelli and Mr. Salgado-Gama to be Co-Heads of Brazil Investment Banking.

Mr. Guazzelli was a Senior Partner and Head of Investment Banking at BR Partners and formerly Co-Head of Investment Banking for Citigroup Brazil. During his career, Mr. Guazzelli has advised on a wide variety of transactions in the Brazilian and Latin American markets across the telecom, consumer, agribusiness and industrial sectors.

Mr. Salgado-Gama was a Senior Partner and Head of Mergers & Acquisitions at BR Partners and previously worked for 12 years in Investment Banking at Citigroup in Brazil and New York. Mr. Salgado-Gama’s broad advisory experience includes a variety of transactions across the healthcare, industrials, chemicals and financial services sectors.

Mr. Alberti was a Partner at BR Partners and previously a Vice President in Investment Banking for Citigroup in Brazil and the United States where he focused on the technology, education, media and telecom sectors.

Martin Houston Joins Moelis & Company as Chairman of the Firm’s Global Energy Group

Moelis & Company (NYSE: MC), a leading global independent investment bank, today announced the appointment of Martin Houston as an Advisory Partner and Chairman of the Firm’s Global Energy Group. Mr. Houston will serve oil and gas clients globally, adding significant experience to Moelis & Company’s industry-leading global energy franchise.

Mr. Houston has almost four decades of experience managing all forms of enterprise across the energy industry. He began his career in 1979 with Baker Hughes and in 1983 joined BG Group and remained with the company until 2014 when he retired as Chief Operating Officer and a member of the company’s board of directors.

Since his retirement, he most recently co-founded Tellurian Inc., a company building a low-cost natural gas business, where he currently serves as Vice Chairman.

While serving at Moelis & Company, Mr. Houston will maintain his existing roles as a Vice Chairman of Hakluyt North America, a subsidiary of the UK-based strategic advisor to multinationals and financial institutions; a Non-Executive Director of CCC Energy, a private oil E&P company; and a Non-Executive Director at BUPA, the international healthcare group.

In addition to his executive and non-executive work, he is an advisory board member of the Global Energy Policy unit at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, a council member of the National Petroleum Council of the United States of America, and a Fellow of the Geological Society of London.
