Dave Brown is a Managing Director at Moelis & Company and Head of the U.S. Private Fund Advisory group. He joined the Firm to help launch the Private Funds Advisory group, with extensive experience advising on fundraises across the spectrum of investment strategies and geographies worldwide. Previously, Mr. Brown was a Managing Director and Co-Head of Greenhill’s Private and Real Estate Capital Advisory Groups. He joined Greenhill in 2008 from Lehman Brothers, where he served as a Senior Vice President of Lehman’s Private Fund Marketing Group. Before that, he was a Director of New York Life Investment Management and prior to that, played as a quarterback for 10 years in the National Football League for the New York Giants and the Arizona Cardinals.

Thane Carlston is a Managing Director and Co-Head of the Recapitalization & Restructuring Group at Moelis & Company. Mr. Carlston has been in the investment banking industry for over 20 years. From 1998 until joining Moelis & Company in 2008, he was Co-Head of the Recapitalization and Restructuring Group at Jefferies & Company. During his leadership, Jefferies advised on nearly $200 billion of restructuring transactions. Before joining Jefferies, he ran the New York office for Chanin and Company, a boutique investment banking firm specialized in providing restructuring advice. Mr. Carlston has extensive experience advising companies, equity sponsors, bondholders and creditor groups in out-of-court restructurings as well as pre-packaged, pre-arranged and unplanned Chapter 11 reorganizations. He has structured and led numerous exchange offers, consent solicitations and lender negotiations in a variety of industries. In addition to advising clients on recapitalization and restructuring services, he has advised on a number of financing and M&A transactions.

Mr. Carlston holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Utah and an M.B.A. from the University of California at Los Angeles.

Ed Chiang is a Managing Director at Moelis & Company. Mr. Chiang has over 23 years of capital markets and investment banking experience. Prior to Moelis & Company, he spent a total of 16 years at Merrill Lynch and Banc of America Securities, where he was most recently Group Head of Private Equity Placements, a member of the Equity Capital Markets Operating Committee and a Managing Director from 2002-2009. During his tenure at BofA, his group executed over $13 billion in equity and equity-linked financing transactions, including 90 PIPE transactions for over $5 billion in proceeds. At Merrill Lynch, Mr. Chiang was an investment banker in the Private Equity and the Mergers & Acquisitions groups where he advised on $17 billion of M&A transactions in addition to acquisition-related and strategic equity placements totaling $4.5 billion.

Lawrence S. Chu is a Managing Director at Moelis & Company where he provides financial and strategic advice to large cap companies globally, with a concentration on the communications, media and technology sectors. Mr. Chu has over 20 years of experience in this role. Prior to joining Moelis & Company, Mr. Chu was appointed Special Adviser to the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) by Chairman Wheeler. Before the FCC, Mr. Chu was a Managing Director at Greenhill & Co. and prior to that, was a Managing Director at Evercore Partners.

Mr. Chu graduated magna cum laude (Phi Beta Kappa) from New York University with a degree in Computer Science. He is President of the Board of Trustees as well as a member of the Nursery School Board of Directors and Governance Committee of The First Presbyterian Church in the City of New York.

Kate Pilcher Ciafone is a Managing Director and Head of Global Advisory Business Management at Moelis & Company. Prior to this, Ms. Ciafone was an investment banker in the Financial Institutions Group at UBS Investment Bank. Elizabeth Crain is the Chief Operating Officer of Moelis & Company and is responsible for the Firm’s global strategy, infrastructure and business management. Ms. Crain has been in the investment banking and private equity industries for over 25 years as a banker, principal and operations specialist. She was most recently a Managing Director in the UBS Investment Bank Office of the CEO and President and served as Manager of the UBS Investment Bank Client Committee and member of the UBS Investment Bank Board. Prior to this, Ms. Crain was both the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Administrative Officer of the UBS Investment Banking Department Americas franchise. Ms. Crain was named one of “25 Most Powerful Women in Finance” by American Banker magazine in 2011 and 2012.

Ms. Crain holds a B.S. in Economics from Arizona State University and an M.B.A. from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. She serves on the Board of Trustees of The Windward School and the Royal Academy America. Jared Dermont is a Managing Director at Moelis & Company. Bill Derrough is a Managing Director and Co-Head of the Recapitalization & Restructuring Group at Moelis & Company. Mr. Derrough has been in the investment banking industry for over 25 years. From 1998 until joining Moelis & Company, he co-founded and co-headed the Restructuring & Recapitalization Group at Jefferies & Company. During his leadership, Jefferies completed over 125 transactions representing nearly $200 billion. While at Jefferies, Mr. Derrough advised a wide spectrum of clients and investors on restructurings, recapitalizations, financings, mergers, and other engagements.

Prior to joining Jefferies, Mr. Derrough was a Principal at Doyle & Boissiere, a private investment firm, and before this, a Senior Vice President of Chanin & Company, an investment banking firm focused on restructuring advice, and a generalist in corporate finance at Salomon Brothers.

Michael DiYanni is a Managing Director at Moelis & Company. Mr. DiYanni has extensive experience in the pricing, modeling and structuring of fixed income derivatives and securitizations. Prior to Moelis & Company, Mr. DiYanni was an Executive Director at JP Morgan in the Fixed Income Group, where he held multiple roles within the structured credit business including heading the North American Franchise Structuring Group, and the Credit Hybrids Pricing and Execution Group.  While at JP Morgan, Mr. DiYanni was instrumental to the execution of a number of market leading structured credit transactions and advisory assignments. Previously, he was a Director in the Fixed Income Group at Citigroup on the Credit Derivatives Trading desk in New York and London.
