Moelis & Company announced today that Benoit Renon has joined the firm as a Managing Director in its London office. Mr. Renon has over 17 years of investment banking experience and was previously a Managing Director and Head of European Consumer Investment Banking at Morgan Stanley in London. He will lead the firm’s European consumer sector practice and develop its French investment banking franchise across all sectors.

At Morgan Stanley, Mr. Renon was responsible for industry coverage of consumer clients including food, beverage, tobacco, and home and personal care companies across Europe, working on varied advisory and capital markets transactions. From 2001 to 2006 he was with Morgan Stanley in Paris, where he was a member of the French investment banking team advising key French clients across a wide variety of sectors. Prior to that, he was at Lazard Frères in Paris as a member of their French investment banking team for eight years.

Moelis & Company announced today that Stan Lai will join the firm as a Managing Director in its Capital Markets Group. Mr. Lai has over 14 years of investment banking experience and was most recently a Managing Director and Head of Private Placements at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. He will be based at Moelis & Company’s headquarters in New York and will focus on providing capital raising advice and solutions to the firm’s clients.

At Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Mr. Lai oversaw a leading and diversified private capital advisory platform where he originated, structured and executed a wide variety of privately negotiated equity, mezzanine, structured securities and illiquid portfolio monetization transactions for public and private clients across all sectors. Prior to that, he worked within the private funds placement group at Merrill Lynch. Previously, Mr. Lai was an investment banker at Salomon Brothers and was a member of the restructuring practice at Deloitte & Touche.

Moelis & Company, the New York-based investment bank, today announced the establishment of a new office in Sydney, Australia, with the hire of a five-person team to cover the Australian and Asian markets.  Chris Wyke will join the firm as a Managing Director and Julian Biggins has joined the firm as a Senior Vice President, along with three other investment banking professionals.  The Sydney office will be Moelis & Company’s sixth office globally and follows the establishment of a London office in 2008.

Mr. Wyke will join the firm in September from J.P. Morgan.  He has over a decade of experience in investment banking and was most recently a member of J.P. Morgan’s investment banking team in Sydney, where he originated and executed a wide range of domestic and international transactions. In his role he provided capital structure, restructuring and strategic and transaction advisory services to real estate trusts, fund managers and diversified property group clients in the Asia-Pacific region. Prior to J.P. Morgan, he was with UBS in London, Singapore and Sydney covering real estate clients across Europe, Asia and Australia respectively.

Mr. Biggins has nearly a decade of investment banking experience and was most recently a member of J.P. Morgan’s investment banking team, where he focused on providing capital structure and transaction advisory services to real estate companies and fund management clients in the Asia-Pacific region. He also led advisory roles to Australian companies acquiring real estate businesses in the U.S., U.K., Continental Europe, Japan and China. Previously he was with UBS’ real estate research team where he provided strategic, quantitative and qualitative studies to Australian and international institutional clients.

Additionally, Ben Wong will join the firm as a Vice President in September from J.P. Morgan and Phil Newman and Paul Rathborne have joined the firm as Associates.

Moelis & Company announced today that Matthew Prest and Charles Noel-Johnson will join the firm’s Recapitalization & Restructuring Group in July and will be based in London. Mr. Prest and Mr. Noel-Johnson, who have worked together for over five years, were previously at Close Brothers where they built a leading European restructuring practice.

The appointments of Mr. Prest and Mr. Noel-Johnson follow Moelis & Company’s announcement on 22nd April that Mark Aedy will join the firm in June as Head of Europe, Middle East and Africa Investment Banking based in London.

Mr. Prest has over 15 years of restructuring experience and will join Moelis & Company as a Managing Director.  Prior to this appointment, Mr. Prest was a Managing Director and Head of the European Restructuring Group at Close Brothers in London where he led a number of complex restructurings across a broad range of industries.  Mr. Prest joined Close Brothers from M&G Investment Management Limited where he was a Director of Restructuring.  Prior to that, he spent eight years at KPMG in both London and Thailand as part of its Restructuring team.

Mr. Noel-Johnson will join Moelis & Company as an Executive Director.  Prior to this appointment, Mr. Noel-Johnson was a Director in the European Restructuring Group at Close Brothers, where during the past eight years he has advised a wide array of corporates, sponsors and creditors across Europe on restructuring and distressed M&A transactions.  Prior to Close Brothers, Mr. Noel-Johnson worked at JPMorgan for two years in Asset Management in both London and New York.

Moelis & Company announced today that Jared Dermont will join the firm in May as a Managing Director in its Recapitalization & Restructuring Group.  Mr. Dermont, who will be based in New York, brings over 13 years of mergers and acquisitions and restructuring experience to the firm.

Mr. Dermont was most recently a Managing Director at Rothschild, where he originated and executed numerous in-court and out-of-court restructuring and M&A transactions for companies, creditors and regulators across a wide spectrum of industries.  Prior to Rothschild, Mr. Dermont was a Vice President in the Healthcare Mergers & Acquisitions Group at Banc of America Securities.  He began his career at Peter J. Solomon Company.

Moelis & Company announced today that Mark Aedy will join the firm in June as Head of Europe, Middle East and Africa Investment Banking based in London. Mr. Aedy, a 30-year investment banking veteran, will lead Moelis & Company’s ongoing expansion in EMEA, further strengthening the firm’s global investment banking capabilities. Mr. Aedy will also be appointed to the firm’s Management Committee.

Mr. Aedy has had a long and distinguished career in the industry, with extensive experience building and managing leading investment banking franchises. Most recently, he served as Head of Europe, Middle East and Africa Corporate and Investment Banking at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Prior to that role, he held several senior management positions at Merrill Lynch in EMEA, including Head of Investment Banking and Head of Multi Industries. Before joining Merrill Lynch in 2000, Mr. Aedy was a Managing Director at Deutsche Bank and Bankers Trust. Over the course of his career, Mr. Aedy has advised many of the most prominent clients across EMEA on critical strategic transactions.

Moelis & Company announced today that Steve Panagos will join the firm in April as a Managing Director and Vice Chairman of its Recapitalization & Restructuring Group.  Mr. Panagos is a widely recognized turnaround expert who will provide restructuring advisory services and solutions to the firm’s clients.

Mr. Panagos has a long and distinguished career of leading complex bankruptcies and reorganizations across a broad spectrum of industries.  Mr. Panagos was the National Practice Leader of Kroll Zolfo Cooper’s Corporate Advisory & Restructuring Practice.  During his 20 year tenure at Kroll Zolfo Cooper, Mr. Panagos provided restructuring advice to numerous companies and also served as Chief Operating Officer and President of Krispy Kreme, Interim Chief Executive Officer and Chief Restructuring Officer of Penn Traffic Supermarkets as well as several interim management positions at many other companies.  Before joining Moelis & Company, Mr. Panagos was a Founder of Panagos Katz Situational Investing.

Moelis & Company announced today that Stan Holtz has joined the firm as a Managing Director based in Chicago.  Mr. Holtz, who has almost 20 years of investment banking experience, will lead the firm’s coverage effort in the telecommunications sector.

Mr. Holtz joins from Bank of America, where he was most recently a Managing Director and Head of US Telecom Investment Banking.  While at Bank of America, Mr. Holtz built a leading franchise advising telecom companies on mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity financings, restructurings and leveraged buyouts.  Prior to joining Bank of America, Mr. Holtz was a Managing Director and Head of US Wireless Communication Services Investment Banking at UBS as well as a Managing Director in the Media and Telecommunications Group at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette.  Mr. Holtz began his career at Smith Barney.

Moelis & Company announced today that Chris Ryan has joined the firm as a Managing Director based in New York.  Mr. Ryan will advise clients on risk and balance sheet-related matters and continue the expansion of the firm’s capital markets capabilities.

Mr. Ryan has over 25 years of investment banking and fixed income experience, including trading, structuring, capital markets, research, sales and risk management as well as extensive experience building and managing fixed income businesses around the world.  Prior to joining Moelis & Company, Mr. Ryan spent nine years at UBS Investment Bank, where he was Global Head of Credit Fixed Income.  Before UBS, Mr. Ryan was Global Head of Syndicated Loans at Lehman Brothers, which he joined in 1992.  He was the sole founder of the firm’s loan business.  Mr. Ryan began his career at Salomon Brothers.
